چکیده

Bladder adenocarcinoma is a rare histological subtype of bladder cancers, with variant subtypes including pure primary signet-ring cell carcinoma (PSRCC) which accounts for only 0.52% of all primary neoplasms of the bladder [1]. The first two cases were reported by Saphir [2]. A review of the literature reveals no more than 100 published cases. The prognosis for patients with SRC is poor, attributed to presentation at advanced stages. Diagnosis of bladder SRC can be challenging, both as it requires an extensive work-up to rule out more common metastatic adenocarcinomas, and comprehensive studies detailing the immunohistochemical profile of these tumors are understandably lacking [3]. Current treatment for this malignancy is often based on experiences gained from single institutional case series. Based on the aggressive natural history of PSRCC, treatment often features aggressive surgery in conjunction with chemotherapy and/ or radiotherapy [4]. We present one case of an atypical pure primary signet-ring cell carcinoma of the bladder, and a brief review of the literature.

Primary signet ring cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder. Review of the literature and report of two cases.

The signet ring cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder is a rare neoplasm; the 70 cases found in the literature pursued a fulminant and mostly fatal course; the neoplasms diffusely invaded the bladder wall without forming intraluminal growths and could not be controlled by segmental resection, radiotherapy and chemotherapy alone or in combination. We herewith present 2 cases of primary signet ri...

Lymphoepithelial – Like Carcinoma with Papillary Transitional Cell Carcinoma of the Urinary Bladder Associated with Carcinoma in situ Changes of the Urothelium; A Case Report and Review of Literature

Lymphoepithelial - like carcinoma, is rarely recognized in the urinary bladder and less commonly occurs with papillary transitional cell carcinoma i.e. mixed pattern. Also, less uncommon is the occurrence of carcinoma in situ changes in the adjacent urothelium of these tumors. Here, a case of lymphoepithelial – like carcinoma and papillary transitional cell carcinoma associated with carci...

Non-Diethylstilbestrol-Associated Primary Clear Cell Carcinoma of the Vagina: Two Case Reports with Immunohistochemical Studies and Literature Review

Primary clear cell adenocarcinomas most commonly involve the genitourinary system, including the vagina. Previously, primary clear cell adenocarcinomas of the vagina have been discussed within the context of prenatal exposure to diethylstilbestrol. Due to its widely proven role in the development of this carcinoma, administration of diethylstilbestrol is prohibited. We present two cases of non-...

A rare case of concurrent signet-ring carcinoma of breast and microangiopathic hemolytic anemia†

Microangiopathic hemolytic anemia (MAHA) can be an uncommon presentation of an underlying malignancy, most often due to signet-ring cell carcinoma (SRCC). Additionally, pure SRCC in a breast primary-tumor comprises <2% of all breast cancers (Shin SY, Park H, Chae SW, Woo HY. Microangiopathic hemolytic anemia as the first manifestation of metastatic signet-ring cell carcinoma of unknown origin: ...
